Special Guest: Alexi Pappas

2016 Olympian and award-winning actor and writer, Alexi Pappas will be this year’s special guest for the 46th Genworth Virginia 10 Miler. A Greek-American, Alexi represented Greece in the 2016 Olympics setting a national record of 31:36 for 10k. Alexi graduated magna cum laude from Dartmouth College and also ran for the University of Oregon as a 5th year, leading the team to two NCAA titles. She achieved All-American at the 3,000m and 5,000m as a collegiate athlete. Currently Alexi is training for the marathon distance and to ultimately compete in the 2020 Olympics [Read more].

Race Day Details

  • Virginia 4 Miler and 4-Mile Walk Transportation

    The course is point-to-point. Runners and walkers will be provided with optional bus transportation back to E.C. Glass High School from Randolph College. Participants should anticipate waiting for buses and are encouraged to find alternate transportation if desired. Transportation is for participants only.

  • Course Maps

    Course maps can be found in two locations: on our website under “Event Information” at the bottom of each race page or on page 20 of the Race Guide.

  • Packet Pickup and Registration

    Participants are encouraged to pick up their race packets on Thursday to avoid congestion on Friday and race morning. Bib numbers will be emailed to participants in early September, in order to expedite the packet pickup process. Please reference this information at Packet Pickup.

    Packets and bibs may be picked up by individuals other than the participant with a confirmation email for that recipient.

  • Assisted Participants

    The Genworth Virginia 10 Miler supports assisted participants. Be mindful that there will be assisted participants in strollers or modified wheelchairs on the course being pushed by a volunteer athlete. Please cheer them on and welcome them as they are an important part of our event.

    Assisted participants should contact the race director no later than 1 week prior to race day. Assisted participants will start at 7:55 a.m.

  • Baby Joggers/Strollers

    Due to the size and density of this event, and for the safety of our participants, baby joggers and strollers are prohibited. The inclusion of strollers in races increases the potential for injury to race participants and children.

  • Personal Music Devices and Headphones

    The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this event. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, our event encourages a headphone-free environment during the running of all events. Runner safety is a priority for our event.

    Please be mindful of all other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone.

  • Race Day Photography

    Smile! Our friends from Jay Proffitt Photography will be on course to capture those special race moments. Within 48 hours after race day, participants will receive an email notifying them that their free pictures are ready to view and download.

  • What's Your Bib Number?

    Bib number assignments are emailed to participants the week of the event. To save time at Packet Pickup, please know your number before your arrive. Bib numbers should be worn on the front of the participant and visible throughout the event.

  • Restrooms

    Portable restrooms are available at the start/finish line areas, Farm Basket (1.5/8.5m), Woodridge Pl. (2.75/7.75m), Vasser St. (3.0/7.0m), Norfolk Ave. (4.1/5.9m), and Riverside Park (4.5/5.5m).

  • Participant Bag Drop

    Participants can leave their valuables at the Participant Bag Drop area located under the white tent in front of E.C. Glass High School. Your race number is your receipt. You must present your race number to pick up your bag after your race.

  • Water Stops

    Water and Gatorade will be available to runners and walkers approximately every 2 miles.

  • Amazing Mile Maps

  • Refunds and Transfers of Entry

    Entries are non-refundable and non-transferable. Entry fees cannot be applied to future races and/or transferred to another person.

  • Parking

    Parking is available at E.C. Glass High School, The Plaza, and surrounding neighborhoods. Please respect private property.
